U.S. Senator Katie Britt Directly Secures Over $2.66 Million for the Wiregrass, Continues Leadership on Senate Appropriations Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.), as a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, recently directly secured over $2.66 million for the Wiregrass through the passage of two Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 appropriations bills: the FY26 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) Appropriations Act, and the FY26 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies (EWD) Appropriations Act.
“There are several critical priorities for the Wiregrass that I was proud to champion and secure in the recent package of funding bills passed by Congress,” said Senator Britt. “When I joined the Appropriations Committee, I vowed to return your hard-earned taxpayer dollars home to Alabama, and this funding, that supports our hardworking law enforcement and improves community facilities, is a reflection of that promise.”
A detailed breakdown of the Alabama priorities secured by Senator Britt can be found below:
- $947,000 to improve recreation facilities at the Walter F. George Lock and Dam.
- $37,000 for the Slocomb Police Department for a fentanyl detection kit.
- $1.007 million for the City of Dothan for the purchase of drones and related equipment for their ‘Drone as First Responder’ program.
- $175,000 for the Level Plains Police Department for body cameras, public safety cameras, and equipment for their K-9 program.
- $500,000 for the City of Enterprise for law enforcement equipment for their Special Response Team to combat fentanyl trafficking.
Senator Britt also supported over $250 million to advance economic development and infrastructure improvements across the state, including for the Southeastern Crescent Regional Commission.
