U.S. Senator Katie Britt Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Israel on 77th Day of Independence, Joins Colleagues in Effort to Combat UN’s Persecution of Israel
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) today issued the following statement expressing her unwavering support for Israel as the nation celebrates its 77th Independence Day:
“Today marks 77 years since Israel declared independence, and I am humbled to take this opportunity to wish Israel and her people a very happy birthday. The United States and Israel are connected by common values and shared interests, and the relationship our two nations have has never been more important. I couldn’t be more proud to stand with our ally today and every day. Once again, Happy Israeli Independence Day to our Jewish brothers and sisters abroad and here at home.”

This week, Senator Britt also joined Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and several of their Senate colleagues in reintroducing the Stand with Israel Act.
“There has been a troubling pattern of anti-Israel sentiment across the UN and its affiliated bodies that has undoubtedly undermined their credibility. Not a single dime of taxpayer money should be used to support or fuel antisemitism. It is imperative we use every tool in our toolbox to stand firm with the Jewish people and our great ally, Israel,” said Senator Britt.
The Senators’ legislation would prohibit the U.S. from funding United Nations (UN) agencies that expel, downgrade, suspend, or otherwise restrict the participation of the State of Israel.
“Israel is one of America’s greatest allies, and under President Trump’s Administration, we will no longer tolerate—much less fund—the blatant antisemitism at the United Nations. This bill will send a clear message to the UN and any other antisemitic international organizations: if you want America’s money, you’ll need to respect our Israeli friends,” said Chairman Risch. “America will always stand with Israel.”
Senator Britt also cosponsored this legislation last Congress. Text of the Stand with Israel Act can be found here.
In addition to her many efforts to address the dangerous threat of antisemitism at home and abroad, Senator Britt continues to be outspoken about addressing the urgent Iranian nuclear threat the United States faces. She recently joined Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) in a bicameral, bipartisan resolutionto affirm the United States, Israel, and our allies and partners should keep all options on the table in order to counter and contain the threat from a nuclear-armed Iranian regime.
Upon introduction, she stated, “Iran’s continued pursuit of nuclear weapons poses a clear threat to the US, Israel, and our allies. Now more than ever, we must stand up to Iran and use every tool in our toolbox to address these threats. Peace is achieved through strength, and our resolution sends an important bipartisan message to Iran that the U.S. will not tolerate Tehran’s aggression.”
