U.S. Senator Katie Britt Celebrates $25 Million Grant for the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) today celebrated a recently announced $25 million U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grant for the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA). These federal funds will construct a new operations and maintenance facility in Birmingham, supporting the BJCTA’s fixed-route, paratransit, and microtransit fleet services.

“With this funding, the BJCTA can accelerate its efforts to deliver reliable, effective, and accessible transportation for the people of Jefferson County. This grant will be crucial in supporting the innovation and growth that drives Alabama,” said Senator Britt. “I’m proud to have advocated on behalf of the City of Birmingham to secure this funding. I’ll continue working to bring Alabamians’ hard-earned taxpayer dollars back home to support meaningful investment in Alabama’s transit infrastructure.”
