U.S. Senators Katie Britt, Chuck Grassley, Colleagues Demand Records Provided to Jack Smith from Telecommunications Companies

October 20, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) joined Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and several Republican colleagues in sending letters to four telecommunications companies requesting they provide to Congress all records that were handed over to former Special Counsel Jack Smith as part of his elector case against President Trump. Under Smith’s leadership, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) led the “Arctic Frost” investigation, in which they secretly subpoenaed phone records from nine sitting Republican Members of Congress.

Senator Britt and several of her colleagues wrote a letter to the Department of Justice and FBI, requesting that all records relating to the probe be provided. The four telecommunications companies that received a letter this week included Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Lumen.

An explosive new FBI document revealed that the FBI targeted eight Republican senators’ personal cell phones as part of its Arctic Frost investigation, which ultimately formed the basis of Jack Smith’s elector case against President Trump. Senator Britt called the Biden FBI’s actions  “indefensible” and called for everyone from the Biden administration involved in the  decision to secretly obtain cell phone records related to Members of Congress to be held accountable.

In addition to Senators Britt and Grassley, Senators Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.),  John Cornyn (R-Texas), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), John Kennedy (R-La.), Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), and Ashley Moody (R-Fla.), and Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) co-signed the letters.

The letters sent to the telecommunications companies can all be found here
