ICYMI: U.S. Senator Katie Britt Joins the Katie Miller Podcast
MONTGOMERY, AL — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) joined the Katie Miller Podcast as the third guest on her new show. Previous guests were Vice President JD Vance and conservative media personality Sage Steele.

Senator Britt discussed a number of topics, including her time at the University of Alabama, balancing being a mother and wife, her time as a Senate staffer, and the more personal side of representing Alabama in the U.S. Senate.
On her time at the University of Alabama, Senator Britt discussed her experience as Chi Omega Sorority Recruitment Chair and President, as well as Student Government Association (SGA) President.
She recounted one story during her time as SGA Vice President, saying, “Even when I got into SGA, I ran for Vice President of Student Affairs. And after the first debate, a friend of mine came up to me and he said, ‘Gosh, you’re really good up there…It’s too bad you won’t go any further…because you’re a girl.’ It was that moment I thought that I was going to run for SGA President, and you can either be with me or you’re going to have to beat me. But I am going to show people what’s possible.”
On balancing being a mom and wife with working in Congress, Senator Britt noted how this shapes her legislative priorities, saying, “Part of the reason that I am so passionate about so many of the different things we do is for a long time, up until a few months ago, I was the only Republican female with school-age kids in the entire United States Senate and felt like it was important to step up as a mom and say….‘Let me tell you what we’re actually dealing with.’”
When asked what the biggest difference from going to being a staffer to Senator is, she said, “How isolating it is. I think you think of the Hill and you look back on your experiences as a staffer, and you kind of remember those, late nights…and just kind of that camaraderie that you have.”
Senator Britt also participated in a game of “Would You Rather,” “Senate Confidential,” and more where she discussed her friendships with many of her Senate colleagues.
