U.S. Senator Katie Britt Delivers Strategic Wins for Alabama in 2026 National Defense Authorization Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26), which includes key priorities to strengthen Alabama’s military installations and capabilities.

“The NDAA ensures our military and warfighters remain the most lethal, well-equipped, and battle-ready in the world. Under President Trump and Republicans’ budget, our defense capabilities are stronger than ever. Importantly, the NDAA goes beyond authorizing critical programs, setting the tone for our military priorities, national security measures, and beyond,” said Senator Britt.

“Alabama’s contributions to the defense capabilities of our nation are second-to-none, and I’m proud to have supported multiple projects that will ensure our state remains a leader for years to come,” she concluded.

Senator Britt supported the authorization of the following projects that will benefit Alabama’s defense apparatus:

• $44 million to support a physics lab at Redstone Arsenal
• $55 million to complete the Propulsion Systems Building at Redstone Arsenal 
• $32 million to construct a DLA Distribution Center at the Anniston Army Depot 
• $28 million for Army Reserve construction and land acquisition projects at Maxwell Gunter Air Force Base

After hearing reports of potential mold and other toxins at Air Force housing units, Senator Britt secured an amendment to require the Air Force to issue a report within 180 days outlining the scope of the problem and a description of necessary steps for remediation.

The NDAA has been passed annually by Congress since 1961 and authorizes critical functions such as the funding for the military, outlining national security priorities, and setting targets for modernizing defense technologies and munitions. This year’s NDAA supports a total of $925 billion in FY26 funding for national defense.

Senator Britt has been a consistent champion for Alabama’s military capabilities, recently advancing over $119 million for Alabama’s military installations in the 2026 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies (MilCon-VA) Appropriations Act. “I know Alabama will be indispensable to ensuring America’s military readiness and unmatched lethality across the globe. I’m proud to advance these wins for our state and look forward to getting this funding over the finish line to bring our tax dollars home to our communities,” said Senator Britt in part.
