U.S. Senator Katie Britt Directly Secures Over $14 Million for Mobile and Baldwin Counties Through Appropriations Leadership
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.), as a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, recently directly secured over $14 million for Mobile and Baldwin counties through the passage of two Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 appropriations bills: the FY26 Labor, Health, and Human Services (LHHS) Appropriations Act and the FY26 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Act.
The bills, part of a larger package, will be sent back to the U.S. House of Representatives for a final vote before heading to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law. Following the signing of this package into law, Senator Britt will have directly secured more than $32.4 million to Mobile and Baldwin Counties in FY26 appropriations funding.
“I’m proud to have directly secured key priorities for Alabama’s Gulf region, which will provide funding for crucial medical equipment, roadway infrastructure, resources for our outstanding veterans, and more,” said Senator Britt. “I’m proud to use my role on the Appropriations Committee to advocate for Alabama-first priorities and look forward to Alabamians benefiting from these investments.”
A detailed breakdown of the Gulf’s priorities secured by Senator Britt can be found below:
- $500,000 for the Monroe County Hospital for mammography and CT scanner procurement
- $2,000,000 for Veterans Recovery Resources for addiction treatment and therapy equipment acquisition
- $2,000,000 to ALDOT for CR 64 capacity and safety improvements in Baldwin County
- $2,000,000 to the Alabama State Port Authority for the Mobile Port’s railroad expansion
- $850,000 to the Alabama State Port Authority for facilities modernization and Pier 02 Berth Competition
- $2,000,000 to the Alabama State Port Authority for McDuffie Coal Terminal Modernization
- $3,000,000 to the Mobile Airport Authority for airport tarmac improvements
- $1,000,000 to the City of Evergreen to fund security infrastructure improvements
- $500,000 to the Fairhope Airport for airport operations and safety improvements
- $150,000 to the Gulf Shores International Airport for improved and additional fire equipment
In the FY26 THUD bill, Senator Britt also helped to secure $10 million for the National Scenic Byways Program, which includes Alabama’s Coastal Connection.
