U.S. Senator Katie Britt: Educational Freedom is the Key to Unlocking Opportunity for Our Children

January 23, 2024

WASHINGTOND.C., January 23, 2024 – United States Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) today released a statement in support of the 14th annual National School Choice Week, which runs this year from January 21 through January 27, 2024.

Hi, Senator Katie Britt here.

There is nothing more powerful than a quality education.

It’s the key to unlocking the American Dream. It’s the pathway out of poverty. And it can help ensure that every single child has the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their zip code.

That’s why National School Choice Week is so important, and why I’m proud to join families across America in celebrating this week.

School choice means educational freedom.

It empowers families to make important decisions that help their children grow, achieve, and secure a bright future.

Every student – and every family’s situation – is unique. There is no one-size-fits-all answer to what works best for every student’s education.

For some, it’s their traditional local public school. For others, it’s a public magnet school, a charter school, a vocational school, a private school, a parochial school, a homeschool, or maybe it’s a hybrid option.

This week, let’s recommit to putting parents back in the driver’s seat so that they are empowered to make the best decisions for their own child’s education.

I will continue to fight for educational freedom and opportunity for each and every child across Alabama and our nation, so that they can live their American Dream.

Thank you, and God Bless!

Senator Britt is a cosponsor of Senator Tim Scott’s (R-S.C.) resolution designating January 21 through January 27, 2024, as National School Choice Week.

Additionally, Senator Britt is a cosponsor of the Educational Choice for Children Act, which was introduced by Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.).
