WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) today released the following statement after the Senate confirmed Harold “Hal” Mooty to be a district judge for the Northern District of Alabama by a vote of 66-32. Senators Britt and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Hal Mooty, and Mooty’s family during a Senate Judiciary Committee nominations hearing on September 3, 2025.

“I was deeply proud to vote to confirm Montgomery, Alabama, native Hal Mooty for a federal judgeship. His outstanding record at one of Alabama’s preeminent law firms and throughout his career speaks for itself. Having known Hal for 24 years, I have seen firsthand his relentless pursuit of excellence, commitment to the rule of law, and dedication to our great state. I am additionally thankful to President Trump for his exceptional leadership in nominating Hal to serve in the judiciary and to Senator Tuberville for his partnership in recommending Hal to serve in the federal judiciary. I have every confidence Hal will apply our laws fairly, uphold the Constitution, and serve with distinction as a federal district court judge.”
