WTAS: President Trump Credits U.S. Senator Katie Britt in Historic Announcement to Expand IVF Access, Reduce Costs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) joined President Donald J. Trump in the Oval Office to announce a historic new plan to make in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other fertility treatments more affordable and accessible for American families. During the announcement, President Trump credited Senator Britt with bringing this priority to his attention and urging his support of continued nationwide IVF access.
Senator Britt has been a tireless advocate for creating a more affordable and accessible future for families and aspiring parents. Following an Alabama Supreme Court ruling in February 2024, Senator Britt spoke with President Trump on the importance of access to IVF and other fertility treatments, who then called on the Alabama Legislature to enact legislation protecting IVF access. Just days later, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed IVF legislation into law to protect IVF access across the state.
Earlier this year, Senator Britt celebrated Trump’s historic executive order to expand access to IVF treatment, which was the most pro-IVF executive action ever taken at the federal level. President Trump credits Senator Britt for introducing him to the subject.
Senator Britt also previously introduced the IVF Protection Act, which would guarantee continued IVF access nationwide while safeguarding religious liberty, and led every single Republican Senator in a joint statement reaffirming their support for continued nationwide IVF access. Senator Britt worked with Ted Cruz to release an op-ed titled, “We’ll Protect Both Life and IVF” in the Wall Street Journal.
