U.S. Senator Katie Britt Directly Secures Over $9.7 Million for the River Region and Black Belt Through Appropriations Leadership
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.), as a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, recently directly secured over $9.7 million for the River Region and Black Belt through the passage of two Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 appropriations bills: the FY26 Labor, Health, and Human Services (LHHS) Appropriations Act and the FY26 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Act.
The bills, part of a larger package, will be sent back to the U.S. House of Representatives for a final vote before heading to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law. Following the signing of this package into law, Senator Britt will have directly secured more than $14.5 million to Alabama’s River Region in FY26 appropriations funding.
“Thanks to two key Appropriations bills, Alabama’s River Region and Black Belt will receive crucial transportation infrastructure updates and increased funding for higher education,”said Senator Britt. “I’m proud to have directly secured these investments and will continue fighting for Alabamains every single day on the Appropriations Committee.”
A detailed breakdown of the River Region and Black Belt’s priorities secured by Senator Britt can be found below:
- $1,305,000 for Faulkner University to procure equipment and a vehicle for a mobile wellness unit
