Senator Britt Questions U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Highlights Successful Immigration and Antisemitism Efforts of President Trump’s DOJ

June 26, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) questioned U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi during the Senate Appropriations Committee hearing titled, “A Review of the President’s Fiscal Year  2026 Budget Request for the Department of Justice.”

Senator Britt began the hearing by praising AG Bondi and the Trump Administration’s work to secure our southern border and curb illegal immigration, saying, “I want to thank you for what you have done to actually close our border … to put the safety and security of Americans first. You have made significant strides to go after gang members, cartel members, here in our interior.”

The Senator then asked AG Bondi how the FY26 Budget will allow the Trump Administration to continue their work to remove illegal aliens from our interior and protect American communities and families.

“This budget requests $10 billion to bolster drug enforcement efforts and $3.2 billion for programs to combat transnational organized crime against America … that these gangs that have infiltrated, through Biden’s open border policies, have infiltrated our country,” AG Bondi responded.

AG Bondi continued, “Sinaloa, they want to talk about Mexico, MS-13 TdA (Tren de Aragua), Venezuela. They opened their prisons in Venezuela and let these people come to our country. No longer. [Cartels and gangs] are so well organized—they have formed huge organizations within our country. And our DEA, our ATF, our FBI … with state and local authorities, are doing everything we can to stop that throughout our country. And that’s why I would ask everyone to support the Big Beautiful Bill, because that helps our budget as well for national security.”

Senator Britt then inquired about the United States asylum system: “We have seen that (system) be abused massively … When there is someone who needs to claim asylum, we want them to have the opportunity to do that. But the fraud is preventing us from actually hearing these cases. So, talk to me about what you’re doing there.”

AG Bondi responded, noting that “as of May 2025, there were 3.8 million pending cases. And that was a decrease of more than 235,000 cases over a four-month period. My budget requests $844 million, for EOIR, for immigration, to support the enforcement of the federal immigration laws.”

In her response to Senator Britt, AG Bondi also highlighted the importance of passing President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, which includes critical funding to advance the President’s immigration agenda.

Senator Britt concluded her line of questioning by thanking AG Bondi for creating the Joint Task Force on October 7th, saying, “Thank you for your commitment to getting justice for those victims, for addressing the threat that is posed by Hamas and for combating antisemitism. We have seen a rise in that in the last two years here on our soil and particularly in college campuses.”

She then asked, “Can you talk to us a little bit about the work that that task force has done, what you’re seeing, and any priorities that you are pursuing to ensure that we eliminate antisemitism here in the United States?”

“[The Joint Task Force is] staffed with dedicated prosecutors, agents, analysts and linguists … I had a young man tell me he had to take [his Star of David necklace] off at a university because he was scared to death, and I was glad he took it off for his safety. You shouldn’t have to do that. You should be proud of your religion, and you should be safe to practice your religion in this country. And we will continue to do everything through the October 7th Task Force to protect, to protect everyone in this country,” AG Bondi responded.
